What are you determined to know???

As I look forward to the New Year, I was looking up the mentions of the word "resolve" in the Bible on YouVersion. When looking, I realized I was searching under the Amplified Bible, which pulled up 1 Corinthians 2:2. I would like us to take a look at the passage, 1 Corinthians verses 1-5 (this is the KJV)..."And I, brethren, when I came to you, came not with excellency of speech or of wisdom, declaring unto you the testimony of God. (2) For I determined not to know any thing among you, save Jesus Christ, and him crucified. (3) And I was with you in weakness, and in fear, and in much trembling. (4) And my speech and my preaching was not with enticing words of man's wisdom, but in demonstration of the Spirit and of power: (5) That your faith should not stand in the wisdom of men, but in the power of God."

Looking to 2009, my prayer is that I am not drawing others to myself, but to Jesus!!! I must daily deny self and the sinful habits that can come so easy when walking in my own power. I like the way verse 2 was brought out in the Amplified version, shown here..."For I resolved to know nothing (to be acquainted with nothing, to make a display of the knowledge of nothing, and to be conscious of nothing) among you except Jesus Christ (the Messiah) and Him crucified." This just makes it jump out that much more...I need to worry not of the things that are of this world! My mind needs to be on Christ crucified...and realize that because of that crucifixion and resurrection, no matter what happens, therein lies my Hope!

Look at this passage and leave a note about what else jumps out at you...let's truly discuss the subject!!! More to come...

Please let me know if there is a special prayer request I can word on your behalf!!!

That text should be what we strive for. Even though we may not have the best presention or know the fancy words, we have a heart turned toward God that says not my glory but for his.Great blog.

I totally agree with what you have said, about it not being for "yourself" but rather for Him. Every Christmas I get more and more in tune with that concept. It is not about the material things or the money we have, like once was believed by me. It is time to share what you have with those who cannot afford or be blessed with the things each of has individually. My prayer request is just that. Brandy (my soon to be ex-wife ((but still having the faith that a miracle could happen)) is stuck on money and material things. That was her complaint to me when the kids told her what I had gotten then for Christmas. It wasn't what they got, it was how much...how much does Tim have over there in OK? I pray for her on a daily basis, hoping that one day soon God will open her heart and eyes.

Yes this text is what we should strive for compleat denial of are self. Here is a text that I personaly have been going over this week that seems to relay denial of my self as well as becomeing a servant of Jesus.
John 12:24 Verily, verily, I say unto you, Except a corn of wheat fall into the ground and die, it abideth alone: but if it die, it bringeth forth much fruit.
John 12:25 He that loveth his life shall lose it; and he that hateth his life in this world shall keep it unto life eternal.
John 12:26 If any man serve me, let him follow me; and where I am, there shall also my servant be: if any man serve me, him will [my] Father honour.
John 12:27 Now is my soul troubled; and what shall I say? Father, save me from this hour: but for this cause came I unto this hour.
Craig you also mentioned that your mind needs to be on Christ crucified...and realize that because of that crucifixion and resurrection, no matter what happens, therein lies my Hope!

That is a powful thing the mind.

You see I belive once some one becomes saved and born agin that they now no longer have your mind but the mind of Christ. There is a scripture that tells me that and its in the some chapter you start with it is

1 Cor 2:10 But God hath revealed [them] unto us by his Spirit: for the Spirit searcheth all things, yea, the deep things of God.
1Cr 2:11 For what man knoweth the things of a man, save the spirit of man which is in him? even so the things of God knoweth no man, but the Spirit of God.
1Cr 2:12 Now we have received, not the spirit of the world, but the spirit which is of God; that we might know the things that are freely given to us of God.
1Cr 2:13 Which things also we speak, not in the words which man's wisdom teacheth, but which the Holy Ghost teacheth; comparing spiritual things with spiritual.
1Cr 2:14 But the natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness unto him: neither can he know [them], because they are spiritually discerned.
1Cr 2:15 But he that is spiritual judgeth all things, yet he himself is judged of no man.
1Cr 2:16 For who hath known the mind of the Lord, that he may instruct him? But we have the mind of Christ.

Abandoned to God. Simple. No lists for me this year. Only one core value that will drive everything... "...that I may know Him..." Phil 3:10.

Great blog and have a great New Year!

Grace and Peace,

Craig,

I've been a recent add on to your readership and I just love the way you say things.
This is kind of a confirmation for me about what my next blog will be about. I've been thankful for all the readers from Facebook looking at my stuff, but I am hoping that I am leading to a One Man Revival with Jesus and not with me.
